Anambra Government Unveils ‘Light House Awka’, Launches New Reforms and Projects Following 10th ANSEC Meeting

The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has taken major decisions aimed at advancing governance, infrastructure, and social reforms during its 10th meeting held on June 2, 2025. This session, which marked the third to be held at the newly inaugurated Government House, yielded significant resolutions and project approvals.

One of the key highlights was the official naming of the new Anambra Government House Mini City as “Light House Awka”, reflecting the state’s identity as the Light of the Nation. The council agreed that the name embodies the vision and purpose of the new administrative hub.

Under the initiative titled “Anambra Rebirth”, the council also explored comprehensive strategies to reshape the moral, social, and cultural fabric of the state. The long-term objective is to make the transformation a signature legacy of the Governor Charles Soludo-led administration. ANSEC also reflected on the success of the Extraordinary International Children’s Day celebration held on May 27 at Solution Fun City. The council praised the commendable conduct of thousands of children who participated in the event.

In a move to strengthen the state’s electricity sector, the council announced the immediate establishment of the Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ASERC). The new body will operate under the recently signed Anambra State Electricity Law, and recruitment for qualified professionals has commenced.

Addressing concerns over child welfare and public safety, ANSEC resolved that any facilities used as holding places for child beggars will be sealed and confiscated in accordance with the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025. New Projects Approved
